The Chinese Language Teachers Association of California (CLTAC) is delighted to announce the upcoming 2024 Spring Conference scheduled for March 9th, 2024. The Organizing Committee is now accepting proposals for 20-minute individual presentations or 60-minute panel discussions. Please be noted that the CLTAC 2024 Spring Conference Call for Proposal deadline is extended to Jan 30, please see the details below and the attached.
CONFERENCE THEME The Future of Chinese Language Teaching and Learning In line with our commitment to advancing the field, we have chosen a theme that reflects the evolving landscape of Chinese language education. The conference aims to provide a dynamic platform for colleagues to delve into discussions surrounding two critical influences on the future of our field: Generative AI Technology: Explore the rapid advancements and applications of generative AI technology in Chinese language teaching and learning. US-China Relations: Examine the recent turbulent changes in US-China relations and their implications for Chinese language education. We encourage proposals that investigate the impact of these technological and political developments on various aspects of Chinese teaching and learning. Topics may include, but are not limited to: Chinese linguistics and pedagogical grammar Second language acquisition Standards-based instruction Proficiency- and/or performance-based assessments Thematic unit lesson planning Curricular development Reading and writing literacy development Remote learning AP Chinese Teaching culture Teaching Professional Chinese Teaching heritage students Studying abroad Teacher training Immersion programs Classroom management strategies Your insights and expertise will contribute to the richness of our discussions and help shape the future of Chinese language education.
