2025 Picture Book Reading Contest​


Are you ready to bring stories to life through the art of reading? The Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press (FLTRP) and the Chinese Language Teachers Association of California (CLTAC) are thrilled to announce the 2025 the 2nd America Elementary and Middle School Picture Book Reading Contest! This exciting event invites K-8 students to immerse themselves in Chinese language and culture through storytelling, creativity, and expression.

Contest Overview
The Picture Book Reading Contest offers a unique opportunity for students to showcase their Chinese language skills by reading and interpreting picture books published by FLTRP. The contest encourages young learners to engage with Chinese stories and culture, building confidence and fluency through fun and meaningful experiences.
Whether you're a first-time participant or a returning contestant, this is your chance to shine on a broader stage and be recognized for your language talents!

Who Can Participate?
This contest is open to all K-8 students across America. Students of all language backgrounds are encouraged to join, whether you speak Chinese at home, are learning Chinese as a second language, or have just begun your language journey.

Why Participate?
  • Showcase Your Skills: Demonstrate your proficiency in Chinese language and storytelling.
  • Cultural Engagement: Deepen your understanding of Chinese language, literature, and culture.
  • Earn Recognition: Compete for awards and certificates from FLTRP and CLTAC.

Awards:
Participants will have the opportunity to win various awards, recognizing their efforts and achievements:
  • Excellence Awards:
    • First Prize: 6 winners
    • Second Prize: 12 winners
    • Third Prize: 18 winners
    • Prizes: Winners will receive a bilingual certificate co-signed by FLTRP and CLTAC, recognition on the "FLTRP International Chinese" WeChat account, video channel, and CLTAC’s official platforms, along with an FLTRP Picture Book Gift Pack.
  • Merit Awards: 30 winners will receive a bilingual certificate, recognition on the official platforms mentioned above, and an FLTRP Picture Book Gift Pack.
  • Outstanding Organization Awards: 5 teachers who actively organize student participation will receive a bilingual certificate and an FLTRP Teacher Development Gift Pack.
All participants will receive a certificate of participation to acknowledge their efforts.

Important Dates
  • Submission Deadline: February 28, 2025
  • Results Announcement: April 2025

How to Participate
  1. Choose a Picture Book: Select a picture book published by FLTRP.
  2. Record Your Video: Introduce yourself, present the book, and read your chosen story.
  3. Submit Your Entry: Upload your video to YouTube and complete the online submission form.
